Maliba Tours was born out of the vision of two young Malians, Siré A. Diallo and Mahamoud "Ladji” Danté. Our desire and determination to preserve and support our culture and fellow Malians through eco-tourism is the foundation for Maliba Tours. You, the visitor play an important role in fulfilling this mission of providing meaningful tours that benefit not only you, but also the people you visit and the lands through which you journey. Our name indicates our mission and philosophy of re-creating Mali, as we know it. In Bamanankan (Bambara language) Maliba means “Great Mali”, this refers to the Mali Empire, which in its heydays encompassed many of the current neighboring countries. Our tours recreate this splendor by overcoming geo-political borders and taking you on a journey through “Great Mali.” We hardly see you as tourist; to us you are a guest, a visitor, which means that you are getting an authentic integration into the local cultures. Maliba Tours is not a window to distant, exotic West African cultures; it is a bridge between cultures.
