International flight arrives at Bamako-Sénou Airport; Assistance from guide and driver for airport formalities and transfer to hotel.
Departure for Ségou, home of Bambara Mali’s largest ethnic group. Stop in Sékoro, “old Ségou” the former capital of the Bambara kingdom to visit the tomb of King Biton Coulibaly. Arrival in Ségou and settling in at hotel for lunch. Afternoon tour of Ségou to view the beautiful Sudanese-style architecture, visit the port, the pottery market, traditional weavers and other artisans.

Depart for Mopti via San. Stop at Térékoungo to visit the animist Bobo village.
Arrive in Mopti, the Venice of Mali, in the afternoon. Visit the fishing port and enjoy a sunset boat cruise on the Niger River.

Cross the Bani River by ferry to get to Djenné, also known as the twin city of Timbuktu. Once there visit the word’s biggest mud edifice, the Great Mosque, a UNESCO World Heritage. Learn the history of the city while you visit the grave of the self-sacrificing young girl after whom the city was named. The trip will be planned so you can experience the bustling Monday market, a world-renowned weekly affair. Return to Mopti.

Drive to Mali's fascinating Dogon country. Visit Songo village, renowned for its rock paintings and circumcision grotto then continue to Sangha to witness mythical Dogon architecture with huts clinging some 300m off the edge of the cliff. In the afternoon, visit the lower and upper Ogols of Sangha, which are the sacred meetings places of women in Dogon society.

Early morning hike to the Dogon cliffs to visit more mystic places such as the circumcision grotto and the women’s house. Visit the Hogon, the spiritual leader of the Dogon people. Take part in a divine Dogon mask dance after lunch before returning to Mopti.

Depart for Timbuktu by road on an exciting trip filled with magnificent landscapes and wildlife. Visit traditional Fulani and fisherman villages along the way. Cross the Niger River by ferry and enjoy aquatic life and an awe-inspiring sunset before arriving in Timbuktu by lunchtime. Visit the fabled city’s legendary sites such as the Sidy Yaya and Djingareiber mosques, handicraft centre, museum, local artisan bakeries, and marvel over ancient manuscripts of 13th century scholars in the Ahmed Baba center. Experience the Sahara Desert first hand with an excursion by camel caravan to a Tuareg camp on the sand dunes.

Leave the mysterious city of Timbuktu for Mopti, the Venice of Mali. Arrive in Mopti and spend the afternoon relaxing or strolling through town to reconnect with the locals.

Depart the island of Mopti for Ségou, Mali's second largest city. Stop in Térékoungo, to visit the sacred well of the Bobo people; In the afternoon, go on a boat cruise to visit the pottery makers on the other side of the river and catch an exhilarating sunset.

Depart for Bamako visiting the former Bambara kingdom at Sékoro and the tomb of King Biton Coulibaly along the way. Arrive in Bamako around lunchtime and spend the afternoon at the National Museum, recycling market, and with local weavers. Transfer to the airport after dinner for return flight.
